After a very hard fought tee-ball game today our team remained in the third place position. Final score was 20-16. I frankly am glad that it is over. But, I am looking forward to next year. :-)

I might have done something today that may turn into a mistake, or it could lead to some great adventures. I accepted a position as the "Minister of the Mint" for the principality of Cynagua. That is SCA speak for the person who oversees the making of coins for Northern California. What worries me is that the position is a bit coveted and it could turn into a political maelstrom. Master Emmrick, the head of the moniers guild, asked me to do it because I am the only one he really trusts fully. Besides, I'm also the only guy around that can do all the work needed to be done and is reliable. The position could be fun because it will get me back into the SCA and doing something that I love. Also, it means a promotion within the guild for me. I've been a journeyman for 10 years or more.

In other news... my wife is in for a big surprise tonight. While she was at work I got my hands on a rototiller and dug up the entire garden area in the back yard. She has been procrastinating about planting a garden because the area needed a tilling in a bad way. NOW SHE HAS NO EXCUSE!!! Granted, it's a bit late in the year but something fast growing could still be planted.

Fresh veggies... here I come!! :-)
What a nailbiting day. Two of my girls played in the tee-ball tournament today. They played two games and won each one launching themselves into the third place position in the league. Tommorrow, they may play up to three games for a chance at winning the championship. They lost one game earlier in the week. So, tommorrows game is against the team they previously lost to. If they win, then it's on to face the one undefeated team in the tournament.

The worst part is that their games are so intense. The trend has been that they screw up alot early on and then rally to win the game. However, the one game they lost was because by the time they rallied they were too far behind to win the game. I hope that doesn't happen tommorrow.

The best thing about these stupid quizzes is that they usually get my wife to type in her blog because she reads mine and takes the quizzes herself.

Summer is definitely here. It's actually been cold for the past couple weeks but this week it really warmed up. So much so that I'm starting to experience the lazy summer afternoon syndrome. Needless to say not much has been getting done around here.

I received a cassette tape in the mail this week that I had been looking for for quite some time. It is called "Lamentation" and the music was written and composed by an Orthodox monk I once knew at the local monastery. The music sounds a bit like folk songs with singing and guitar accompaniment. As an Orthodox Christian the music stirs my heart and soul very deeply. Many lines he uses in the songs are taken directly from Scripture and well known liturgical prayers. It is Christian music, but not in the sense of Protestant or even modern Catholic style. Anyway, I am very pleased because my older daughters seem to be warming up to the music. I heard them singing one of the songs yesterday. That does my heart good because I so hate it when they sing pop music.

In other news, I've been working on my armor for the past couple of days. I'm seriously thinking about going to an SCA war over the on coast in a few weeks. I'm sure I would have a good time, and I am eager to get back into my armor and take the field. But, I have a couple reservations about the trip. First, my wife and kids would not be able to go. I am riding with my old pal Bubba, who is fighting at my side in the war. I really hate being at events without my family. Second, I heard through the grapevine that Bear is gonna be there. Apparently, in his paganistic fervor he has decided that the SCA is the place for him to be. I also heard he plans on donning armor and fighting. I'm sure I could just ignore him and enjoy myself. But, I just don't want to see him or have any contact with him. Frankly, I have forgiven him for what he has done to me in the past. But, I'd rather forget about him and get on with my life. I know this is a wrong attitude for me to have. I should be a light among those who live in darkness.

I think I am at a bit of a crossroads with my future right now. I am still interested in working for the railroad. But, I can't get hired because I just don't have any related experience. So, I came across a school in the Central Valley that has an 8 week training course for railroad conductors, and another course following for railroad engineers. Needless to say I am interested but I am unsure whether I'd get hired afterwards.

On the otherhand, I could get recertified as a police officer and maybe go to work for the local department. There is a place in the central valley that offers a 9 week course.
However, I just don't know if I'd get hired again or whether I even want to work in law enforcement again. At least working for the railroad I am assured to make a decent wage and can take time off pretty much whenever I want.

I know to whoever reads this it sounds like I've pretty much made up my mind. But, I have to do a bit more research before the final decision is made.

In other news, the girls won their first game of the tee-ball tournament today. i got kinda frustrated watching them just because they keep screwing up and won't do things the right way. But, after calming down and observing other kids on the field I realized that my kids aren't that bad. Tommorrow they play again.

I just don't understand things. I don't know what is going on with my old Armenian friend. His family had a BBQ today and they invited everyone in the circle but us. GRRRR!!

I spent some time working on my armour today. I'm not as far behind having it functional as I thought. However I did have to grind some rust off my helmet :-(. Anyway, I'm thinking about going to a medieval event in a couple weeks. It's over on the coast, and alot of people I know are going to it. Including some people I just don't like. It would be good for me to get away from the kids a bit. If I can find a babysitter I think the wife won't mind. Obviously, it's still up in the air.

We played our first game of Dungeons and Dragons this past week. I haven't ran a 1st edition game in ages. We had a few of the local goons show up along with an old friend of mine I haven't seen in years. Overall it was a good game. Though the critical hits and fumbles were a bit over the top for whatever reason. I hope the game with continue. Only time will tell.
