Disappointment

So, yesterday was Armenian Genocide Rememberance day. Each year throughout the life of this journal I have posted something about the genocide to continue to educate people and to honor my grandparents. Because of Obama, I refrained this year... here is why:

During his campaign Obama said repeatedly that what happened to the Armenians in 1917 was a genocide. He pledged to state publically as such once he was President. A few weeks ago he was in Turkey, it was there that he did not say the word "Genocide", but spoke of the massacres. He also said his opinion of this issue had not changed. Then comes earlier this week, during the Jewish Holocaust Rememberance day he spoke boldly about the need for the United States to take an active role in preventing Genocide and remembering past attrocities as such.

Then comes yesterday... the Turks win again. This time in the guise of continuing to normalize Turkish/Armenian relations.

President Obama, it is clear that the Turks have no intention of calling the Armenian "friend" despite what they may have told you. The Turks have stated many times that they will not deal with Armenian until the issue of Artsakh has been resolved and the lands returned to the Azeris. Also, the Turks see it as a symbol of national pride that they are "conquerers"

Sadly, there can be no peace without justice. The Jews got their day of reckoning... When can we as Armenians put to rest the bones of our ancestors?

Dishonest politeness

So, I am not happy these day. I am still feuding with my second daughter and its getting real old. Then to boot, I am coming to the realization that my wife is goading her on for whatever twisted reason.

The other day my wife was all upset at the kids for not doing their chores. Specifically, at my second daughter because she had been slacking for quite some time. When I refused to get involved, because my involvement is rarely appreciated, my wife got mad at me. I later found her sitting on the stairs whispering to the girls about me.

Fast forward to yesterday, wife made spaghetti for the gameing group we had over. I wasnt all that hungry at the time, however I still got a huge bowl set in front of me. So, like the obedient over-eater that I am I take a bite. Something tasted funny about the food, so I set it down. The wife noticed and got upset. Later she told me that she was mad because of the way I rejected the food as opposed to the very fact that I did. Fast forward to today... the daughter in question decides to make a cake to celebrate April 23rd(whatever that means). She kindly offers me a slice which I am very grateful to accept. However, I take a bite and the frosting is very gritty, like hurting my teeth gritty. I comment that it tastes like she put sand in the frosting. Of course, she gets all upset and immediately goes to my wife to claim that I once again disparaged the food that people makes... poor, abused slaves of a picky tyrant right?

Only problem was that there was sand in the frosting. My younger girls put colored sand from an art project in a little bottle and stuffed it in the kitchen drawer. My daughter used it thinking it was colored sugar, without tasting it. So, I get a mouthful of sand and I get to look like the asshole for saying so.

Since when has simple honesty been so maligned? Would they rather have me sit there and suffer in silence while consuming something unpalatable? My dinner tonight was a good example, gristly undercooked steak and macaroni that just tastes bad for whatever reason. But, I sat there and kept my mouth shut about it. A dishonest courtesy?

This may sound like a pompous man complaining about how terrible he has it with people cooking for him. Take it as you will, but honestly I'd rather cook for myself then to continue suffering with this drama. If you got a job to do you do it right. Throwing together a meal as fast as you can is doing nobody any favors.
